Wolters Kluwer N.V. (Euronext: WKL) is a global information services and publishing company. The company provides products and services for professionals in the health, tax, accounting, corporate, financial services, legal and regulatory sectors. Wolters Kluwer has annual revenues (2010) of €3.556 billion, employs approximately 19,000 people worldwide and maintains operations across Europe, North America and Asia Pacific. Wolters Kluwer is headquartered in Alphen aan den Rijn, Netherlands. Its shares are quoted on the Euronext Amsterdam and are included in the AEX index and Euronext 100 index. The CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board is Nancy McKinstry.
Wolters Kluwer formed under its present name in 1987 when Kluwer Publishers merged with Wolters Samson as a defensive move (white-knight move) against an attempted hostile takeover of Kluwer Publishers by Elsevier.[2] In 2003 Wolters Kluwer sold Kluwer Academic Publishers to two private equity funds who shortly after merged it with BertelsmannSpringer to form Springer Science+Business Media.[3] Wolters Kluwer Education, was sold to Bridgepoint Capital for 700 million euros in March 2007, who renamed it Infinitas Learning.

Wolters Kluwer Health & Pharma Solutions provides scientific and industry information for professionals and students in medicine, nursing, health practices, pharmacy, and the pharmaceutical industry. The division is growing and in 2008 acquired UpToDate,[5][6] an electronic clinical resource tool.[6] The division includes Ovid Technologies, Facts & Comparisons,[7] ProVation Medical,[8] Adis International[9] and Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. In 2011, Lexi-Comp, a leading drug information provider, was acquired for an undislosed amount.

Wolters Kluwer Financial & Compliance Services provides financial services, software tools, and workflow solutions to financial organizations and risk professionals across a wide variety of industries such as financial services, insurance, life sciences, healthcare, manufacturing, transportation, energy and government. It has audit, risk, and compliance products. Its brands include ARC Logics, AppOne, GainsKeeper, and PCi, and it acquired FRSGlobal on 23 September 2010.[11]

Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory maintains a diverse set of legal professional services and publications through units including CCH (Commerce Clearing House), Aspen Publishers,[13] Kluwer Law International, Croner, and Loislaw. Its subsidiary One Legal LLC is a pioneer in online service for court filings and other legal references.[14][15]
Aspen Publishers provides legal education resources through AspenLaw.[16] This business has grown through the acquisition of Emanuel Law Outlines in 2001,[17][18] and Casenotes, a Santa Monica legal studies publishing house, in 2002.[19] The legal study aids from these businesses have been integrated into a software tool called AspenLaw Studydesk (R) that is available online.[20][21] CT[22] is another power brand of this division.

Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting provides information, research, and software tools for the global tax and accounting markets. CCH is its primary brand. The CCH product Global Integrator was named 2011 "Top New International Tax Product"[24] by accounting magazine Accounting Today. Other major products include ProSystem fx Suite, CorpSystem, IntelliConnect, Accounting Research Manager and U.S. Master Tax Guide.
The company is active in community work, supporting some local organizations in their charitable giving efforts.[25]
